Homelessness Awareness Week (HAW) is an annual week of social, educational and awareness raising events organised across the country to highlight the issue of homelessness, and to mark the continued efforts of organisations, staff, and service users working in the sector.
Originally arranged to mark the 40th anniversary (2006) of ‘Cathy Come Home’ – Ken Loach’s powerful docudrama dealing with a young family’s journey into homelessness – HAW is in it’s ninth year.
HAW is a sectoral wide week of activities, typically spanning the week that is made up of the last few days of November and the first few of December.
Whilst no one organisation is central to event planning / co-ordination, each year, we list and circulate information about upcoming events, and collate and present reviews of these, post-event.
