Kathy was homeless and sofa surfing between friends houses when she was referred to MACS just under a year ago.
She made the brave decision to move from Derry to Belfast and signed up to for a Princes Trust Development Course. Kathy managed to complete the course despite having nowhere she could call home at the time.
With help from MACS Floating Support, Kathy managed to get her own tenancy with the NIHE and moved into her flat in January 2016. After a tough period of her life, things are going really well for Kathy. She is enjoying having her own space and turning her flat into a lovely home.
Kathy has just completed Springboard and will start Belfast Met in September to complete her Level 3 in Hospitality & Customer Service. Kathy also receives support from our Wellbeing Service and meets weekly with her volunteer, which she really enjoys and gets to try new things. She has also just become a member of MACS Shadow Board.
Kathy remains an inspiration to everyone at MACS. She has grown from the young girl who thought that she could “achieve nothing” into a confident happy girl who can achieve anything she puts her mind to. Kathy’s motto is “Set your goals high and don’t stop till you get there”.
Well done to Kathy – we’re all so proud of her!!
